Making HERstory 2020: Rising Star Award

Updated: Jun 1, 2020

Almost a week ago, I was enjoying the California sunshine and warm weather! I spent such the most amazing International Women's Day with the Women's Journey Foundation at the 2020 Making HERstory Event! The event was held on March 7th, at University of California Irvine. Here, I met so many influential individuals and game-changing women and girls, and also was able to share Choose To Be You with different people from around the nation! The event was about "celebrating women's contribution and achievements of the past and today"!

The Event Performance

The Making HERstory Performance was about different females who have made a major impact throughout American history. Some of these influential figures included Alice Paul, Patsy Mink, Harriet Tubman, Julia Child, and so many others! The performance was mixed with older and younger females, which was incredible to see both age groups of women supporting each other!

Recipient of The Rising Star Award

I was invited to attend this HERstory event in California, because I was chosen to be the recipient of the 2020 Rising Star Award. I was chosen to receive this award because the goal of Choose To Be You is very similar to the message in which WJF wanted to share with the younger audience, which is empowering individuals to do good in the world, and embracing their confidence to share their voice and speak up!

Other Award Members:

Theresa Walker, Kimberlina Whettam, Alison Arngrim- 2020 Legacy Award Honorees

Dolores Huerta - Lifetime Achievement Award

It was so amazing to meet all of these incredible women, as well as the younger girls at the event who have already done so many amazing things.
